National Assessments

  • NAEP – When selected to do so, USD 450 participates in NAEP testing (National Assessment of Education Progress) for grades 4, 8, and/or 12.  Potential subjects include civics, economics, geography, mathematics, music and visual arts, reading, science, technology and engineering literacy, U.S. history, and writing.  When one of our schools is selected to participate, a random sample of students from the identified grade are chosen to take the NAEP.

  • ACT – In addition to the state funded ACT exam for Juniors, Shawnee Heights is a testing site for ACT on select Saturdays.

  • AP Exams – Students that are enrolled in AP courses at our high school can choose to register for the AP exam for that course.  Families pay the exam fee.  Students have the opportunity to earn college credit by earning a 3 or a 4 on the exam subject to each college’s credit acceptance policy.

  • Accuplacer – This is an alternative test for students interested in attending Washburn Tech if they do not have the required scores from WorkKeys to enroll.  There is a $20 fee students pay.  If they pass the exam, the exam fee becomes their enrollment fee.

  • STAMPS 4S – Students who are proficient in English and a second language can take this test to qualify for the Seal of Biliteracy.
