Last week the Zoology class participated in a Citizen Science Project to capture and tag monarch butterflies as part of Monarch Watch. Education Specialist at the Topeka Zoo and SH alumna, Rachael Rost led the class in a lesson about monarch butterfly conservation.

It was a fantastic weekend celebrating our Kansas Teacher of the Year Nominees. Our district nominees were Tiffany Sloan and Quinci Packard, we couldn't be more proud of them! Also, Cassandra Geis a SHHS grad and former SH teacher Karen DiLeonardo were among the nominees.
Great News! Some of our 4th grade students will have artwork on display at Westridge Mall from September 14 until October 14, 2019. They will be shown in the window of the former Gap on the lower level below the food court. Check out the amazing work!

Over 1800 pounds of food was donated to Harvesters at the Jamboree on August 30th. That is 1,888 meals for families in the greater Topeka area. Thank you to the Shawnee Heights, Seaman, Highland Park, and Washburn Rural community who helped, you are appreciated!

Middle School students studied their rights in relation to the student handbook. After doing some research on other school handbooks they came up with great suggestions on how the handbook could be improved.

The finishing touches are being done to our football field! SHHS will be hosting Seaman, Highland Park, and Washburn Rural tomorrow, Friday August 30th starting at 6:30 p.m. for our first football jamboree. Admission is one non-perishable food item.
